From 1997 to 2007, the Jeep TJ was the second generation of the Jeep Wrangler. You will need to know your Jeep TJ bolt pattern if you want to rotate your Jeep TJ tires, change them due to wear and tear, or just because you want to upgrade your Jeep TJ tires or wheels.
The number of bolts and spacing between them on your Jeep Wrangler TJ wheels are indicated by the bolt pattern, some times referred to as the lug pattern. The number of bolts and the diameter of the circle made by those bolts make up the Jeep TJ bolt pattern.
Jeep TJ Bolt Pattern
The Jeep TJ bolt patterns are 5 x 4.5 inches (5 x 114.3 mm), meaning five lug nuts with 4.5 inches of spacing between the centers of the five lug nuts.
Remember that the wheel fitment specs do not change within a generation.

The Jeep Wragler TJ has a 5 x 4.5 inch bolt pattern; their factory-sized wheels are 15 inches with a thread size of 1/2″ – 20 UNF; and the hub center bore is 71.5 mm.
How to measure a bolt pattern
To measure a bolt pattern, you need measuring tape. As we mentioned earlier, the Jeep TJ has five lugs.
For 5-lug wheels, start measuring from the outside edge of the lug hole to the center of the opposite bolt. This measurement gives the diameter of the circle these bolts form..
The diameter and number of bolts give you the bolt pattern of Jeep TJ.
How to torque Jeep TJ lug nuts?
When you remount the wheel or rim, it’s important to follow the wheel tightening torque specifications mentioned in the owner’s manual. The Jeep TJ recommends that you bolt these nuts in the way that’s shown below. You have to follow a star or crisscross bolt-tightening pattern.
Please note that the Jeep TJ needs to have the bolts tightened to 100 ft/lbs.
Check your wheel lug nuts after 40 km and make sure that they are tightened; if not, retighten. If the lug nuts keep falling out, you should replace your Wrangler TJ wheels.
